Active By-Stander Intervention

Prevention. Action. Change. based in Portland, Maine will be joining us to offer online training in Active Bystander Intervention and De-escalation skills. Prevention. Action. Change. has been a training partner with Allagash Brewing for the last 5 years and during the pandemic period has worked extensively with breweries in Maine and regionally to address heightened incidents of racial bias, sexual harassment, and Covid health and safety resistance.

The sessions utilize whole and small group discussions, scenario practice, verbal and physical exercises and movement. Trainers build off of the skills and experience of participants and use scenarios taken from actual incidents experienced by members of the brewing community and collected through the more than 30 trainings conducted to date.

Session 1 – Active Bystander Intervention: Learn to recognize identity-based harassment in the early stages and gain the skills to intervene safely and effectively using the 5Ds of Active Bystander Intervention: Delegate, Distract, Delay, Document, and Direct. Explore the roles race, gender, position, and power play in who is targeted and how we intervene and gain tools for assessment and managing adrenalin in the moment.

This training is for Mass Brewers Guild Members ONLY - if you are interested in registering for this workshop please send an email to the executive director of the Mass Brewers Guild.
