Brewery owners and founders play a critical role when it comes to fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace No matter how many mission statements are written and D&I committees are formed within breweries across the state, all efforts will crumble without support from senior leaders.

Join the Mass Brewers Guild on Tuesday, Aug. 31 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. , for a two hour training and roundtable discussion to learn from diversity and inclusion expert, John Basile, and from each other. The workshop will be held at Jack’s Abby Craft Lagers, 100 Clinton St. in Framingham, Mass.

A light lunch will directly follow the discussion. Tickets are $65 for members and $80 for non-members. Out of state breweries welcome. Classroom space is limited.

The session will include:
• Understanding of the meaning of D&I and the various dimensions of Diversity
• Understanding the business case for D&I
• Unconscious bias and its impact on the workplace and strategies to mitigate
• A moderated panel discussion to talk through best practices/challenges in D&I
• A facilitated group conversation on how to move forward with a commitment
• A light lunch

John Basile brings over thirty years of human resources management and expertise to the Mass Brewers Guild community, including his most recent role as Global Head of Diversity and Inclusion at Fidelity Investments. Throughout his career, Basile has led teams focused on talent acquisition, business unit HR support, talent management, organizational effectiveness, and employee engagement.

Basile has proven success in coaching at all levels of an organization to help leaders achieve greater success in their professional development, business acumen, and inclusive leadership competence. He is skilled at creating and sustaining effective D&I strategies, building and engaging employee resource groups, and creating education and awareness programs in support of fostering a more diverse and inclusive workplace.

This workshop is one of many trainings that the Mass Brewers Guild will offer throughout 2021 and beyond. Future sessions will support managers and employees in their D&I journey in an effort to help make the craft beer industry more inclusive and welcoming for all.
